The “Home” category is the cancer type the member selects at time of initial registration. For patients, family members, and caregivers this category allows the users to have maximum permissions. Users have a more limited set of permissions in “Guest” categories, and they have read only permissions for other features.
To have ‘Home’ permissions in more than one category, users would need to create more than one account (for this a separate e-mail account will be needed for initial account creation).
MyCancerHaven ‘Blogs’ are used by administrators to share information with the community, as well as highlight blog content from other sources.
Healthcare professionals with a PIN number and select users provided a PIN can create blog posts within a 500-word limit. A PIN number can be obtained by messaging us at contact@mycancerhaven.org. Other healthcare professionals can comment on blog posts.
‘My Story’ is a feature for patients to post photographs and share and update information on their cancer journey with the community, offering encouragement to others and finding comfort in knowing you are not alone.
Any member can suggest a group, and any healthcare professional can start a group. Community members can join groups that are of interest to them. Groups are overseen by our administrator and provide opportunities for members to connect, share, and learn, supporting each other.
The Crowd feature is an open discussion board where administrators pose questions and start threads for discussion, gaining feedback from the community
This feature allows you to share your opinion or test your knowledge and see how the community responds. It also helps to inform future resources and content
Patients and community members can message each other. Healthcare professionals and experts can message each other. However, patients and community members cannot message healthcare professionals and experts and vice versa
Users cannot message or pose questions directly to the Experts, but they can submit questions using the “Submit A Question” button. Our experts review these questions and utilize them to provide new resources and content for the community.
Please note, our experts cannot provide answers to any questions regarding an individual patient’s healthcare. For prompt answers to questions regarding your own treatment please consult your healthcare provider.
Please flag any questionable content to our administrators. You can do so by ‘Submit a Question’ or providing information to our ‘DropBox’ via the Connect tab on the left-hand navigation bar. Members support in flagging questionable content is appreciated. Once flagged, a site administrator will review and determine whether to take down the flagged post.
